North Jersey RCD, in conjunction with NRCS, is making it possible for area farmers in Hunterdon, Warren, and Somerset Counties to reduce farm runoff into local streams through an innovative approach to planting cover crops. Area farmers are able to take part in an aerial seeding program whereby cover crop seeds including clover, triticale, and tillage radish are broadcast over late-maturing agricultural crops in order to provide stabilizing cover crop that will hold the soil throughout the fall and winter months.  NJRCD’s support of this program has been made possible through NJ Department of Environmental Protection, Water Resource Management, Division of Water Monitoring and Standards, Bureau of Environmental Analysis, Restoration and Standards 319(h) grants.
